Admitted Student Day On March 31st Is Better Than Flying Space Dolphins

If you have zero artistic taste, you can buy this awesome poster here
The feeling you get when you open your first college acceptance letter should be bottled. It's kind of like winning the lottery while riding a flying dolphin into a pastel sky of cotton candy clouds. At least, that was what it was like for me.

Sadly, we were unable to bottle the experience of pure joy (apparently Apple already owns the patent and is attempting to make it a standard feature on the iPhone9S), but we were able to channel its essence into our planning for Admitted Student Day this year.

ASD (appearing in shortened form to save me from developing carpal tunnel) is our celebration of your accomplishment. You're proud, we're proud of you, and we're proud to welcome you into our fall class. To reflect all that pride, we've planned an awesome day for you.

Read on for the schedule:

8:00 - 9:00 a.m. - Check in, munch on some of our trademark breakfast scones fresh from the oven, then take a student-guided tour of campus if you'd like.

9:00 - 9:15 a.m. - We say hi and welcome and congratulations and all those pleasantries.

9:25 - 11:45 a.m. - You can choose from a variety of awesome sessions meant to give you a feel for what your life will be like on our campus and allow you to get to know our faculty and staff.

Some of the highlights include:
  • "Food in America" - sample lecture from Dr. Ghada Masri
  • "What The Hell Is Philosophy, And Why Do I Have To Take It?" - sample lecture from Dr. Kenneth Zanca
  • "Left Brain Vs. Right Brain: What's the Difference?" - sample lecture from Dr. Lynn DellaPietra
  • "Why do I have to wait until I am 21 to drink alcohol?: Using Sociology to Understand the Drinking Age Debate" - sample lecture from Dr. Carlos Royal
  • "So You Want To Be A Doctor?" - Dr. John Alexander
  • "The Anti-Monster Job Search: Marymount's Personalized Approach to Getting You A Job" - John McCrudden, Director of Career Services
  • "Defying Boundaries - Information in the Digital Age" - Mary McMillan, Director of Library Services
  • "Internships and Capstone Projects: How We're Preparing for the Job Market" - Marymount Student Panel

12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. You can hop on our Marymount shuttle or take your own car to our Palos Verdes North residential community (Don't call them "dorms." Every time you do a unicorn gets eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex.) Make sure to take care of any business (like paying your commitment deposit) first!

Once there, you'll be able to eat some fresh tacos from our favorite food truck, enjoy some music mixed by our own DJ Altone, and peruse our Student Organizations and Activities Fair. We'll be giving away awesome Marymount Swag, too.

Sadly, the event ends at 3:00, but don't fret: You'll have plenty of time to continue the fun in the fall.
