Spring Semester is About to Begin! (Orientation Schedule)

Winter is over. 

Our campus will no longer be abandoned to fog, landscapers, and lonely admissions personnel. The locals can pack away the parkas and galoshes that have been so crucial in fending off the frigid 50 degree nights. There will be absolutely no need to check the weather for at least the next 364.2 days, as the divine plague of strange liquid will soon cease falling from the sky. Traffic will lighten considerably, and the Hollywood Elite will no longer have to watch their livelihood take a speedy ride down to PCH on the geographical slip-and-slide upon which they decided to build their palaces.

...Well, academically, at least.

Spring Orientation begins this weekend, and Spring classes begin next Wednesday! Read on for a full schedule! 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 22 (International Move-in Day)

• 12-5pm: New International Student Move-in
• 3pm: Airport Shuttle Pick-up (Tom Bradley International Terminal)
• 5:30pm: Welcome Dinner
• 6:30pm: Target Shopping Trip [Optional]

SUNDAY, JANUARY 23 (Domestic Move-in Day)

• 10am-12pm: International Student Brunch & Orientation
• 12-5pm: New Domestic Student Move-in
• 3pm: Airport Shuttle Pick-up (Tom Bradley International Terminal)
• 5:30pm: Dinner & Residential Life Orientation
• 6:30pm: Dessert Social
• 7:30pm: Target Shopping Trip [Optional]

MONDAY, JANUARY 24 (Testing, Advisement, Registration)

• 7:30-9:30am: Breakfast in Cafe
• 8am-3pm: Information Booth is Open (I'll be there...).
• 8am-5pm: All school offices and bookstore are open.
• 8:30-9am: Advising and Testing Information Session
• 9-11am: Testing [If necessary]
• 9am-5pm: Parent Lounge is open.
• 10am-12pm: Advising and Registration
• 11am-2:30pm: Lunch
• 12-2pm: More Advising and Registration
• 12:45-1:15pm: Computer Orientation OR Small Group Campus Tours
• 2:15-2:45: (Whatever you didn't do in the time slot above)
• 5:30pm: Dinner and SOS/CA Social Event

TUESDAY, JANUARY 25 (Welcome, Parent Day, Convocation)

• 8am-5pm: School Offices and Bookstore Open
• 8-10am: Breakfast in Cafe
• 8am-3pm: Orientation Booth is open
• 8am-5pm: Parent Lounge is open
• 8:30am-12:30pm: Vendor Booths will be, uh, Vending
• 9am: Campus, Class, and Vendor Tours for Students and Parents [optional]
• 9-9:30am: New Transfer Student Orientation
• 9:30: Another Campus, Class, and Vendor Tour
• 10am: Welcome to Students and Parents
• 10:30-11am: SOS Meet and Mingle for Students
• 10:30-11:45am: Parent Information Panel
• 11:15am-12:15pm: Start Smart Seminar for Students
• 12-12:20: Optional Break-Out Sessions and/or Parent Break
• 12:30-1:45: Convocation & Lunch
• 2-2:45pm: Computer Orientation (Get your email account, your Portal ID, etc.)
• 3-4pm: New Student Information Session - Students Only
• Student Code of Conduct
• Learning Center and Academic Support Services

• 4:15-5pm: SOS Real Talk - Student Only
