Walk-In Application Day Returns Like a Jedi on 12/2/11

Last year we had five Walk-In Application Days. At the onset I thought I'd be clever and compare each to the nearest major holiday.

Why holidays? Because WIAD is a long tradition (like Thanksgiving Dinner), stressful (like Black Friday), and fun for the whole family (like Christmas Morning).

That was fun for the first few, but I rapidly ran out of witty holiday metaphors (and also, incidentally, of the holidays themselves). So this year, rather than resorting to a hackneyed attempt at making a analogy to National Mutt Day on 12/2/11, I'm going to try something new (and equally hackneyed):

Movie Sequels

And what better sequel to start us off than George Lucas's finest work, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi?

So, here goes after the jump.

...Please pardon my nerdiness.

To join the Walk-In Application Day Rebellion:

  1. Complete your application online.
  2. Bring your high school (and college, if applicable) transcript(s) to our office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd. You can also include SAT or ACT scores, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation—but all we need for the decision is your transcript.
  3. You'll go on an adventure (campus tour) with the Ewoks (our student workers).
  4. After you return, you'll interview with Han Solo, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, C-3PO or Chewbacca (i.e. one of our Assistant Directors of Admission—T.J., having been in admission the least amount of time, is clearly the wookie. Groan.).
  5. Finally, if the force is with you, you can torpedo the Death Star (the looming decision threatening your holiday cheer) with the assistance of the ethereal Obi Wan Kenobi (our Director of Admission) and potentially walk victoriously away with your admission decision and scholarship award in hand (if you qualify, of course).

Don't worry, I promise Jar Jar Binks won't be here.

You can make your own Star Wars Crawl here. Use it to announce daily activities on your Facebook page. Watch your pool of friends slowly deplete.
