It's Friiiday, Friiiiday, Friiiiday [This Just In: Saturday Comes Next]!

Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun (yeah!)--you know what fun is! Take some time this weekend to have some! Forget the important decisions, like whether to take the front seat or the back seat. Just kick back, relax, and "party" like a tone deaf 13 year-old.

Here's some good news to assuage your worries and ease your troubled mind into weekend mode: we haven't lost your application. If you haven't heard from us yet, it doesn't mean that something is wrong. We're still admitting for fall, we're still giving out financial aid, we're still accepting applications for housing. We have a record number of applications, and we're committed to making sure that each applicant gets the same careful consideration that we've always given in the past. It might take a little longer, but don't worry. You'll hear from us. We promise.

So, now you can breathe a big sigh of relief and start planning your weekend festivities. Read on after the jump for our top ten list of things to do in the Marymount (South Bay) area.

10. Get a tan at our campus pool, play some tennis on one of our six courts, then barbecue some steaks at PV North (Here is an awesome recipe).
9. Go hiking on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Enjoy some of the best views in California...only slightly marred by the dulcet cries of feral peacocks (hint: they sound like Shakira with a head cold).

 8. Rent a kayak at the Redondo Beach Marina and kick it nautical-style with the sea lions that congregate there.

7. Play some golf at the Trump Golf Course (I hear he's going to be President). Tell everyone you encounter that they're fired.

6. Meet a pretty local at the beach. Ask them out. Take them to the South Coast Botanical Gardens and have a picnic. Give me credit at the wedding.

5. Dress like Zak Bagans from the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures (skin-tight affliction t-shirt and oversize belt buckle are a must), and engage in an impromptu paranormal investigation at the [very haunted] Queen Mary

4. Get some discount tickets from our Student Life office (or, be super-cool like me and buy a season pass) and take the Happily Ever After Challenge at Disneyland: get a picture of you proposing on bended knee to every Disney Princess. Especially Rapunzel.

3. Take a ferry across the bay to Catalina Island and [don't] test the high-speed turning capabilities of a souped-up golf cart.

2. Pet sharks, feed parrots, and anthropomorphize sea otters at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific

1. Learn to skimboard. Eat four or five pounds of sand. Try surfing. Drink several gallons of sea water. Give up and rent a beach cruiser.
